SPECIAL EDUCATION & RELATED SERVICES

The Special Education Department provides services for student with special needs.  Services and accommodations are available to students who meet the eligibility requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504. A full continuum of program options is available to meet the needs of individuals in the least restrictive environment. District placements allow opportunities for students to be mainstreamed with their typical peers according to individual strengths and interests. Opportunities to integrate within the school program are abundant.

The Special Education Department provides appropriate educational programs and services, which will enable all children to:

  • Become self-sufficient to the extent their disabilities permit

  • Realize their potential

  • Attain self-worth and personal dignity

  • Become participating members of their families and society.

Special education also includes related services that are developmental, corrective, and supportive.  These related services include, but are not limited to, speech-language therapy, psychological services, physical and occupational therapy, counseling services, parent counseling and education, and transportation. All services are provided at no cost to parents.
