In the English Language Arts (ELA) Department we build upon our reading and writing skills using the common core standards. In each grade the course work will be writing intensive to prepare students for the New York State ELA exam:

• We will improve our writing skills by writing expository essays and enriching our vocabulary and grammar. 

• We will read and respond to various genres to increase our reading levels. 

• We will improve our reading skills by responding and critically analyzing the works we read.
